In Session (& Out)
-
Online video sessions.
Our introductory meeting and coaching sessions are held via Google Meet video conferencing. Google Workspace allows me to offer you a recording of our work, if you agree to it being recorded. This can be very beneficial. Often, after we have a breakthrough, the relief and even joy is palpable, but we forget how we got there. I will never record without your consent. Another alternative is to record the audio independently on your phone.
-
Sharing platform.
TEAM-CBT tools are largely in document format. I'll share them with you in a pseudonymised folder in Google Drive (through Google Workspace) for ease and security. This way we'll be able to use them in our sessions, and you can also access them whenever you want or need to do some work. All documents are copyright of Dr. Burns and only to be shared by people who have a license to do so, and only to be used for personal work by clients.
-
Frequency of sessions.
The work of changing how we think, feel and act in the world is hard, and requires persistence and focus. We'll start with one or two 2-hour sessions per week over a couple of months, which keeps the forward momentum going, so the changes go deeper and last longer. When you get a hang of the tools, and you're doing a lot of the work on your own, we can change the frequency to monthly or whenever you want a session.
-
Session cancellation.
Cancellations are a part of life. If you cancel our session at least 24 hours before we were to meet, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel our session with less than 24 hours before we were to meet, you will receive a partial refund of two-thirds of the session fee. If I cancel our session you will receive a full refund.

Self-help Action Plan
I consider this work to be ‘help for self-help’. The ultimate goal of our work together is that the problems you came for help with are solved and you learn the tools that got you there. As such, between sessions, I wish you to be fully engaged with our co-created Action Plan (AKA homework).
